2012 Interns

1st year Interns

Adam I, Adam Whitehead, originally hail from Corryong Victoria. I lived for 19 hard and prosperous years on a dairy farm with my Mother, Father and five siblings. Since then I have journeyed far and wide to discover the meaning of my existence but have yet to find my true destiny. I enjoy long moon lit walks on the beach and the feeling of the soft cold sand between my toes. I aspire to be a super hero one day and I hope that my year here doing the internship at camp Wilkin will equip me for this task.

Brandon My name is Brandon Everett and I’m from Colac Victoria.
I enjoy sport, both land and water based, so looking forward to getting in the sea and getting wet.  Also looking forward to the challenges of camp and growing in myself and relationship with God through study at Whitley College.

Daniel Hi I’m Daniel, I’m seventeen and from Mount Evelyn. I enjoy Mountain Biking, Climbing and surfing. I first found out about 12WATTS when i came to camp for work experience in year 10. I'm looking forward to a great year of spiritual growth and fun. :)

David Hi I’m David and I am 21. I'm 21 and I enjoy all outdoor activities. I decided to do the 12 WATTS internship for the challenge and adventure it will bring. I am looking forward to learning the ropes, both high and low.

James Hi my name is James. I was born on the central coast in NSW and we have moved around a lot as my Dad is a pastor. I enjoy to play all types of sports when not injured haha... the sports i like most would have to be AFL, swimming and rock climbing which makes me enthusiastic about being outdoors which the internship allows me to do. I am excited about the 12 watts program as it not only teaches me activities around the campsite but also being involved with the theological studies is an exciting prospect for the year. Being the number one intern is a special privilege that I am willing to take under my belt.

Josh Hi I’m Joshua Holmes I’m 18 years old.  I like hanging out with friends and outdoor activities. I chose 12 watts internship because I didn’t know what I wanted to do and this included lots of outdoor activities that I will enjoy and will present new challenge that will help me in my growth both spiritual and personal.

2nd year Interns

Bryce I'm Bryce and this is my second year as an intern here. I was constantly challenged last year in my faith, leadership and maturity, and i decided to stick around for another 12 months because of the opportunity it offers me to impact the lives of the 7 guys I’m lucky enough to live and work with. I loved all the people we got to meet last year, and I’m seriously looking forward to teaching CRE again in the local school, as well as working with a whole lot of campers! So far I’ve spent my spare time doing woodwork, reading, and just chilling with the other guys at home. Eagerly anticipating a good year!

Matt Hi my name is Matthew, I am 22, I enjoy playing basketball and playing guitar.  A big part as working at Camp Wilkin last year was to gain more life experience, more confidence and go continue to grow in my faith. These things have all been achieved to some degree last year, and to continue with that growth I have decided to work at Wilkin again this year.

2011 Interns

Bryce Bryce Hoskins This year's experience has been amazing! I’ve seen a 2m turtle, had a chocolate mousse fight, cleaned a toilet, been taught to shuffle (by grade 4s) and fished in the pouring rain - well, done pretty much everything in the rain. We've taught RE, mastered (maybe not quite) high ropes sessions, grown in faith and leadership and fought together through endless dishes, beach walks and delicious muffins. I wouldn't give up what we've had for all the cheese twists in Anglesea, and I'm sticking around to make sure the 2012 interns get as much out of this as we have.

Felicity Felicity Johnson. My year this year has been an incredible journey; there have been many challenges and experiences!! It has been a year full of learning and growing as a person! There have been many memories made with the other interns and staff around camp! Next year, I will be working at the Otway Fly as a Zipline guide before I head off to Nepal for 5 months where I will be volunteering in an orphanage, which is an exciting new path and adventure for me!

Kendall Kendall Heycox My year this year has gone incredibly quickly, at the beginning of the year I looked ahead at what was to come and I must admit it scared me and I wondered how I would handle it all. Throughout the year I have learnt many things and had many challenges. Many of those challenges I have overcome and many I am still working towards overcoming, but I’ve learnt many skills I need in order to overcome the challenges that are still ahead. I’ve always been the type of person that likes to have things under control and likes to do things right, the thought of staying on here next year, taking on new responsibilities and passing on my knowledge to each other scares me a lot but also excites me because I really do believe that this is where I should be. So I’ve had a year of very mixed feelings and experiences but I look forward to what the future brings.

Matt Matthew Edwards. This year has definitely been a big challenge for me. I have been through lots of new experiences and learnt a lot of work and life skills. I’m excited about next year and the new responsibilities and challenges it will bring that will enable me to ground the skills I have learnt this year, and that will help me to be more confident in the work that I am doing.
